ABSTRACT
This post-graduated thesis has as objective a typography analysis on book covers. For that, it is analyzed book covers that compete for the Academy of British Cover Design Awards (ABCD) in 2016, separating them into categories defined by their format and cover uses, researching their historical origins, technical and conceptual
capacities, besides their relation with the other graphic elements that composes the book cover.
After these analyzes, practical experimentation exercises are carried out in conjunction with the Type Design I: Harmony and experimentation class subject, with the creation of book cover for each of the studied categories.
